IGM Resins receives the 2018 Gold Safety Award of the North Carolina Department of Labor
The North Carolina Department of Labor’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records. The program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
In operation since 1946, the program now extends to more than 5,000 firms, and about 3,000 awards are presented annually. Two types of awards are administered through the program: Annual Safety Awards and Million-Hour Awards.
To qualify for an annual safety award a company must meet the following requirements:
(a) It must have had no fatalities at the site during the calendar year for which the award is given.
(b) It must have maintained either a perfect safety record for that year, or an incidence rate at least 50 percent below the average for its particular industry group.
IGM is strongly committed to safety and health in the workplace and was awarded the Gold Safety Award in 2018 for the second consecutive year, contributing to North Carolina’s injury and illness rate being at an all-time low.
