JOB PURPOSE

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for the Italian Business Unit and Plant timely and in an accurate way in accordance with the group accounting principals. The Financial Accountant contributes to the financial analysis.


POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION

The Financial Accountant reports directly to the Finance Manager Italy and cooperates with the Regional and Corporate Finance teams.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and timely posting of transactions into the financial system, especially related to supplier invoices, bank, accounts payable, accounts receivable, stocks and general ledger;
  • Preparing and entering payments in various bank payment systems;
  • Maintaining interim account balances;
  • Contributing to the analysis of financial data;
  • Supporting the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process;
  • Archiving;
  • Financial accounting in a correct, accurate and timely manner for the IGM Italian Business Unit (including Production Plant);
  • Preparation and posting of all month end journals, including depreciation, prepayments, provisions and accruals;
  • Ensures all balance sheet accounts are reconciled (with the sub ledgers) and signed off on a monthly basis to month end deadlines;
  • Performing intercompany reconciliations;
  • Performing month end currency revaluations in the financial system;
  • Supporting Controller Italy and reporting manager;
  • Financial settlement of stock movements (goods received vs invoices)  and monitor other stock mutations;
  • Creation of service related invoices and all goods related credit notes;
  • VAT and intrastat declarations and cooperate with tax consultants regarding income tax, other taxes and duties;
  • Reconciliation of the monthly payroll and check on related payments (e.g. net wages, income tax, pensions etc.);
  • Preparing of annual balance sheet specifications and proper filing during the year;
  • Supporting the interim and annual audit process;
  • Functional administration role of accounting software;
  • Contract administration
  • Insurance administration
  • Contribution to internal control compliance
  • All other possible occurring departmental tasks or responsibilities.


REPLACEMENT

Replaces by absence:

  • The Finance Manager Italy for day to day tasks that cannot be postponed.

Is on moments of absence replaced by:

  • The Finance Manager Italy for all tasks;

 

COMMUNICATION

Internal Communication

  • With the Finance Manager Italy about tasks and responsibilities and own performance;
  • With the Finance Manager Italy about financial reporting, cash planning and payments;
  • With Customer Service about issues concerning invoices and payment of invoices;
  • With Supply Chain & Procurement about issues concerning invoices and payment of invoices;
  • With Human Resources about salary administrations;
  • With other departments about financial related subjects;

External Communication

  • With auditors about annual reports
  • With tax and duty consultants about fiscal and duty matters ;
  • With software suppliers regarding accounting software related issues;

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and experience

  • Bachelors level, Financial Education;
  • At least 3 years experience within an international organization in a similar position in an manufacturing environment;
  • Well experienced in English & Italian communication, written and oral;
  • Good understanding of the accounting principles used within the company

Software knowledge requirements:

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience
  • Knowledge of accounting and banking software;
  • Advanced Excel experience, working knowledge of other MS Office programs;
